Abstract:
THE LAST DAYS OF HITLER is told from the perspective of two US Army soldiers, one a Brigadier General of Intelligence and a beautiful woman lawyer. In April of 1945, the Brigadier proposes a journey to Berlin under a flag of truce to talk to Hitler and try to induce him into surrendering before more killing takes place. The two officers are authorized to make the journey, and while attracted to each other, are often engaged in conflict. Their love-hate relationship is as much a part of the story as their pursuit of Hitler to South America, where he intends to continue the war using new long range rockets to attack Washington and force his triumphant return to a new Germany. How they turn a potential war into Hitler’s defeat and demise is the nub of the tale.
