Abstract:
Fresh, unencumbered, and charming, Lifeline is an emotive compilation of poetry that ranges from the innocence of a child’s toy to the intricacies of a 100th birthday party. Some funny, others surprising, and still some poignantly sad, these poems touch on scenarios that are common yet extraordinary.

Through words that are both accessible and distinctive, Cristine A. Gruber finds the mystery in the everyday, as well as the simplicity in the unusual, while maintaining a spirituality throughout her work.

These pages are enriching, challenging, and altogether enjoyable. Vivid and inventive, every poem is a morsel to savor, ponder and absorb.

Captivating Insights from a Gifted Poet - July 27, 2005. Reviewer: "MAG" (Riverside, CA) Few poets reach the level of sophistication achieved in "Lifeline". Like many great writers, Cristine Gruber is able to write elegant yet simple observations about all aspects of living with a real and decidedly spiritual focus. Her ability to capture "moments" in time and engage the reader in her experiences is her gift. If you enjoy poetry about what it means to live in the moment, I strongly encourage you to consider this book. MAG 7/27/05

The raw beauty in this rhythmic prose reminds us that there is divinity in normalcy and comedy in our most serious of moments. The magic in this text lies in its connecting personal experiences to the human race as a whole. We all need a lifeline no matter how strong we believe ourselves to be; and if anyone needs a guide to finding theirs, or just enjoys inspirational poetry, this literary work will surely not leave you unsatisfied.

While moving and artfully written, this work highlights some of the simple joys and experiences of family life and love. Well-organized, strongly written, and beautifully composed, the poems were sometimes sweet, sometimes funny, and always ultimately positive--an element of the work which left me feeling both renewed and hopeful. A good buy for a good spirit and any lover of books.
