  Wonderful book , 08/19/2005

Reviewed by: (3/10/2004) This is certainly one of the most unusual cookbooks published! The major portion of this book follows a neat design -- recipe from a famous person (actually, usually from the wife or mother of the famous person) followed by a very brief sketch of the individual's life. ... For those with an insatiable appetite for Civil War cooking or to find out what the rich and famous of the 1800s put in their mouths, this book serves a purpose

All can say is that this is truly a marvelous book. It's pure dynamite and the historicasl part should be required reading in every school in America. The book is fabulous and should also be used as a teaching aid in home schooling. It covers historical facts most of which aren't found in school texts. I've never seen anyhing even close to this approach.
