Ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. These are the characters you will meet in the beleaguered psychiatric hospital:

Abstract:
This is a multi-plot novel, a tale of a beleaguered psychiatric hospital that will take the reader to the sometimes absurd but threatening events. Here the doctors, patients and other workers fight battles amid situations where people manipulate and exploit each other. Central to the story is Dr. Manny Lazarda on his most critical assignment. You will also meet Gerald Horgan, the hospital's brilliant yet flawed administrator; Pat Johnson, the able but despised nursing director; Dr. Roland Boudreau, an alcoholic; Dr. Jason Simms, the arrogant, incompetent medical director; and Freddie, the belligerent, dangerous individual.

I love the ending but I don't know what happened to Simms. I suppose he has to go in hiding or he will go to jail.

An incendiary mix of erupting emotions, egoisms, stark realism and the fantasy world of psychiatric patients involving the reader in a page-turning hunt for professional solutions. No solution will prepare the reader for this story's startling conclusion.

Book Review Asylum Street by Roger Guzman, M.D. and Evelyn Politico-Guzman Infinity Publishing 353 pages $18.95 Asylum Street is an incendiary mix of erupting emotions, egoisms, stark realism and the fantasy world of psychiatric patients involving the reader in a page-turning hunt for professional solutions. If you had one novel to pore over this summer, make this the one. This novel is destined to be a memorable story along the lines of Airport. It's one of the best books I've read in years. The novel's format for the Asylum Street is the substance of true life, where decency is always dreary and people are always imperfect. This work has every bit of savoir-faire as other mainstream fictions. Although this is the first novel by this couple, it is a not an unseasoned work by a long shot. The impulse to take a character like Dr. Manny Lazarda and make him into an impenetrable but tougher character in a realistic circumstance is one that will give the readers the chance to linger and ponder as to what will happen next. The readers will have all the opportunity to appreciate this book despite having read this type of thing before in other narratives. And here's what will persuade you to read it: No solution will prepare the reader for this story's startling conclusion. I love the ending but I don't know what happened to Simms. I suppose he will have to go in hiding or he will go to jail. This and many other scenes in this book will make it a good movie or a TV series. In closing, Asylum Street is a well-prepared and interesting example of the grim-and-gutsy hero. The work is both enterprising enough and engaging enough variety on well-known concepts to make it commendable to the readers. It is something the carefree reader would find worthwhile or satisfying to read. So I can recommend it for the readers, both casual and serious, because it is clear that Guzman and Guzman have a respectable book. I'm looking forward and certainly can't wait for whatever they put out next. PaulTovey Author: We Grow Too Soon Old and Too Late Smart
