Abstract:
Billy Joe tries to undue his crime and take revenge on the three men who framed his banker father and sent him to prison. At age fourteen, during the great depression he is forced to flee to escape being sent to a Georgia State Orphanage. He rides freight trains with hobos and men desperate to find work. He becomes a cook in an Idaho logging camp and a coal miner in Pennsylvania. In his travels he witnesses an armored truck wreck carrying over two million dollars in old bills to be burned in Philadelphia. In a moment of weakness he takes the money and runs.
