WINGS OF TERROR--THE BIRD FLU PANDEMIC, while a work of fiction, could possibly be used as a reality template for family survival. Follow the Gates brothers, families and neighbors to learn of their preparation for the pandemic. Adam, a scientist at the National Institutes of Health, struggles with major pharmaceutical firms to develop a vaccine, but bird flu kills eggs in which most vaccines are cultured. Feeling like he’s been drafted to play God, he’s to designate who gets vaccine and who does not. He has discovered a holistic cure, but his superiors feel this is rank foolishness and forbid him to mention or employ it. I was totally captivated from the start of the book and couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Although this thriller is fiction, I have been shocked at how the news reports of bird flu are following the story line so closely. It brings an even more realistic view to Wings of Terror, making you forget it is fiction. The characters jump to life with Sandra's vividly discriptive writing style. As I read, I can invision a movie being made from the book and I am already anticipating a sequel! I am preparing to use some of the methods of survival outlined in this book with my own family when the bird flu hits the U.S.
