The Good, Good Sheriff is a collection born from a dream to meld the art of storytelling with truths founded upon the ideals of individuality, personal responsibility, love and hope.

Abstract:
The Good, Good Sheriff melds the short story format with prose designed to make you feel as if the author is weaving a tale just for you ~ the reader. The overlying theme for this collection is based upon the purist form of existentialist philosophy: existing as an individual. Some of the stories will make you laugh while some may bring a tear; yet, all will make you ponder thoughts of personal growth and the relationship of the individual to society as a whole.

Amazing collection of short stories , 06/11/2006
Reviewer: Sharon Reagan
The Good Good Sheriff is the best collection of short stories I have ever read! I was amazed at the different voices the author used to bring out my emotions. The stories really made me think about my own life and my relationships with others. The characters are ones that will stay with me forever, and were so well written that I forgot that the same person was writing each story. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more books by this author!

I loved the way the stories captured my attention, the chacters pulled me into their world. The variety of stories was stunning, the way the author portrayed comedy, love story and drama so that you feel that you are on a rollercoaster of emotion. I look forward to reading the next book by Joe Vernetti.

  Amazing , 08/29/2006

When I found out the writer of this book had even WRITTEN something I was amazed...having known him since childhood. So I bought the book and WOW! It totally blew me away. I couldn't put it down. The story of the twins had me laughing so hard I was crying. But the other stories, like the one of the twins, will pull the reader in from the first sentence. You will laugh and you will cry. I give it two thumbs up!!!

I didn't know what to expect when I was given this book by a friend. The first story grabbed me and didn't let go...it just pushed me into the next story and the next. The words, the cadence, the sentence structure, the imagery - combined to ceate a unique reading experience. It's a wonderful book.

What a great read! I was immersed right off the bat! Each story seems to pull you deeper and deeper into the authors world! The imagery, the intonation, the humor… a wonderful writer that establishes the essence of each character and leaves you yearning to know them personally! Vernetti has quite a unique style! Really looking forward to reading more!

Captivating, touching, thought provoking, funny , 10/10/2008
Reviewer: Robin Collins
Wow!! What an amazingly talented new writer. I actually live in the same town and have met Joe Vernetti. I find his book to be sensual, captivating, appealing to the senses, and very thought provoking. It made me take a closer look into my own heart and soul and to dig deeper into the important things of life. I know Joe is presently working on a novel and I can't wait until it is published. When you read Joe's book be sure you read it in order. As he told me, you will be on an emotional rollercoaster if you do. It is full of surprises!! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Some good stories, but NEEDS editing , 11/12/2009
Reviewer: Bethany S.
A few of the stories in this book are really good. Lori's Eyes, for example, was very well done. However, some of the other stories needed, but didn't get, some good editing, and some could have been left out altogether to have made the book much stronger. The first story, for example, has none of the depth of the ones that follow, and would have been best left out or pushed to the back somewhere. It's funny, but tacky compared to the ones that follow.

  Needs editing, table of contents. . . , 02/18/2010
Reviewer: Nicole
This author has clearly published this work with no effort to edit the stories himself, or to have/allow someone else to do this for him. A good editor would have 1) EDITED 2) insisted on a table of contents 3) taken the first story, and probably a couple of others, out altogether. The writer has potential, but as is now, this writing still needs work!
