What sort of woman would become a member of the Women's Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs) during WW II? It's doubtful that a Utah farm girl with a stutter could ever be expected to join these exclusive ranks. Or could she?

Abstract:
Katie Stuart, a farm girl of seventeen, living in northern Utah, is a stutterer. Rather than accept the hazing and taunting that her halting speech provokes, she has chosen since childhood to remain virtually mute. A small, yellow airplane and a WW-I pilot, Crow Spencer, changes her life. Flying helps her develop confidence and self-esteem, but also leads to a harsh lesson in love and betrayal.

The backdrop for this story is the Piper Cub, an airplane that occupies a special place in the hearts of a million or more flyers. The year is 1938.
