  Handy, How-To from MD , 09/15/2006
Reviewer: Ron Gunn
I think that this is a handy book and the thing that I like about it the most is the convenient way it's organized to get to the medical situation that you are looking at -- and right away. It's a medical insider talking about issues in outsider's terms. Basically, you benefit from the insight that a doctor would have when they shop for medical attention for themselves. This is a good book to have around the house as a ready reference. You hope that you don't need it but if and when you do, you'll want to turn to it.

Well-researched and clearly written by one of the "old school" doctors with a heart. I recommend this for everyone. I give it to my friends gifts. They love it!

  Unique Reference Book , 03/08/2007
Reviewer: Maryanne Raphael
This easy-to-read, informative book fulfills the author’s promise to help the reader choose and keep the best medical care. It reminds us that we are ultimately responsible for our own health care and it guides us simply and effectively through the complicated maze to the services that meet our needs. 101 Ways to the Best Medical Care tells us what we need to know about HMO plans, warns us of the many reasons we might want to avoid them and gives us a detailed plan for using them if we do have one. The author illustrates her points with case histories told as interesting little anecdotes. She tells how to find the best doctor, hospital and specialists, and how to prepare for a doctor’s appointment so as to get the most effective treatment. There are chapters on health care for young people in college, for seniors, for military families and travelers overseas. This unique reference book explains medical terms, the names of specialists and the work that each of them does. It lists helpful web sites. It is a book the reader will enjoy reading and refer to many times.
