A young man who sees the world with a unique set of eyes, eyes that are able to speak because of his lifetime experiences in volunteerism and humanitarianism.

Abstract:
Locked Up…. In Perfect Harmony is a story, expressed through the poetry of a young man of sixteen who is an American citizen but was born and lived in a third world country. He moved to the United States when he was seven years old. He was tri-lingual until he attended elementary school. He stopped speaking languages other than English due to a rejection by others. Living between two cultures and transitioning into a multi cultural society, he has learned tolerance and empathy for those less fortunate than he. He hopes to encourage youth around the world to welcome diversity by offering hope through volunteerism and humanitarianism.

Kevin will leave you in awe at the depth of insight, feeling, and truth that he possesses at such a young age. His words convey an inner knowing and understanding, a sense of connection to others, an awareness of the diversity and uniqueness intertwined with the oneness and unity of all beings and of that which is greater than the sum of all of us. At times I felt his pain, the pain that is his alone and the pain that is the collective ours, as well as the dreams, the joys, the hopes, the faith, the love. Kevin is one of those people who touches us and moves us in a new way, helps us to see and experience something a little deeper; someone who reminds us of the awe and wonderment of life; of our responsibility to reach out beyond ourselves while at the same time connecting to that deeper part within. Excellent book!

It is refreshing to find the words of a teenager so sober and introspective. Kevin's thoughts are perceptive and his vision hopeful, inviting the reader inside his soul. I felt his sadness and isolation, yet was totally engaged by his hope for humanity.
