Abstract:

An Ojibwe Indian offers them shelter and friendship.

Ribbons in the wind is one of the most touching, heart felt, spell binding and yes thrilling books I have read in awhile. The main character Mathilda will take you on her journey through life as an orphan in the late 1800's through the early years of the 1900's. The author's writing is so authentic that you can feel the pain and happiness at every choice that Mathilda is forced to make throughout her life. As young as 14 she is having to fight just to keep her innocense and then she is forced to make the choice to give her innocense to man almost three times her age in marriage just to be able to survive. In the beginning you are thinking no way or why, but by the ending of the book the author has written so well that you totally agree with every choice she has made and more importantly you understand what fate is all about. All I can say is that this book is full of life changing choices good or bad and why we survive them to become the people we are. There is so much adventure and spell binding moments in this book that you won't be able to put it down. So put the kids to bed or shut that brief case and curl up in your most favorite chair, because this is one book that won't put you to sleep.
