Lane’s bittersweet diary begins on her 21st birthday. Her saga started at the age of five when she moved into the boiler room of her school… alone. Could you handle it?

Abstract:
At what age does the confident woman get her guts?

How long could you survive in a boiler room of a school alone...at 6 yrs. old? And how do you then get to age 21 and find a man like Van Anthony, the man of her dreams, when all you know is what you've taught yourself!

Will and determination take Lane on a semi-invisible life from ages 5 to 21 where she is forced to raise herself rather than live the horrid lifestyle her mother imposed upon her.

"I felt like the dog being dragged along by the jogger. Even the dog gets tired sometimes."

I loved the way you opened up your readers thinking to the realities of what is going on in the world today. This fiction story makes you wonder if it really is fiction. I would love to see many of the chapters on the big screen. I think it would make a greater impact rather than being read. I'll never look at children the same way again. They can be smarter than what we give them credit for. I cannot wait for the sequel.

I remember the saying “you can do anything you put your mind to” when I read this book. The adventure this book takes you on is truly remarkable! I was inspired at the courage the girl has, it really makes you wonder if this incident is true in the world today. This book will open your eyes to situations that are possibly occurring today. It would be amazing to see this book as a Lifetime movie if it was not fiction. At her age of 6, Lane was determined to change! Young children today are really capable of doing anything they put their imagination to. They are truly very intelligent and aware of many things going on around them which we fail to give them credit for. How do children forgive and still love their parents for the drama they are exposed to as little children? I believe the self-motivation is what keeps pushing them to succeed and never fail! Once I got to chapter 8 I literally could not put the book down! So grab a glass of tea and get comfortable! I cannot wait till the sequel comes out. I'm sure because of what she achieved at a young age there is someone who is determined to "catch up to her"! Follow your heart after it confers with your mind is something we all have want to do and but WHEN, at what age, did we do it, if we did do it??!! **Stay encouraged!!**

  Adventure and Suspense , 05/29/2007

WOW!! This book really must have a sequel to it. It also needs to be considered for film. The book is said to be fiction but the way the book is so finely written, you would think that the main character was real. It is an inspiration to those who may have had similar situations in life happen, that there is always hope. I greatly enjoyed the involment of a diversness in character and culture. Hope against hope is what I have been taught. THere is no excuse for anyone to settle in self pity after reading this book. It covers love, suspense, romance and the list goes on. I recommend this book to all women young and old, to our pre-teen and tween young ladies of this generation and afterwards. The details made me feel like I was in some of the places mentioned. I laughed and cried. I got angry and felt revenge yet eased with peace and love. My, oh my what a wonderful book.

I've had the book for a month now and can't get past the dedication page. I read it daily. It is my motivation to keep pushing forward. My favorite line is "it is the substance that is only you". Over time we let people take and take from us and we have to remember stand tall...ALWAYS! I feel you have dedicated this to me. Thank you.

  Amazining, Wonderful & Powerful Story! , 10/03/2007
Reviewer: Donna
GREAT BOOK! I tried to remember how old I was when I got up enough guts. I was 13 when I was very candid with an reasonable teacher. The character, Lane, in this books says/does all the things we sometimes want to say but are afraid. I love it when a person knows exactly what they want and GOES for it! That requires such inner strength and an attitude that even most adults don't have today. I loved this character and the story is truly believable today! The ending was also great. I cheered and cried! I am recommending it to everyone and I cannot wait for the sequel. I want to see the woman Lane turns out to be with all this security within herself.

  Strength and Honor , 12/20/2008
Reviewer: Kimssa
This is a great book! It exudes strength, honor, power and struggle all within the confounds of a young child! A great story of the premise "if you want it, go out and get it"! Or "don't let nothing stop you" or "I deserve the good life"! There are so many cliches I could use to describe the tenacity of this little girl. After reading the other reviews on other sites, I agree. I too would like to see this in the movies! Good job Ms. Seward!

  Really Good Story , 12/08/2009
Reviewer: Avery Johnston
We all know that bad things happen to good people but it hits you when it happens to a child. Even though this is fiction I know stuff like this does go on. Good story that makes you think about how we treat the next generation and what the effects could be! Really liked this book!
