Rifts and Fault Lines speaks to the spirit of self-correction. The central character, Livy, trips and falls, rights herself, and moves on to the next tangle of characters. Turmoil and discovery lead her to undertake self-exploration followed by its rewards.

Abstract:
Rifts and Fault Lines watches the unfolding of its characters as they interact with each other either in person or in memory. The title refers to the topographical and emotional effects of a particular family’s dysfunctional ways of being in the world. A young, untried woman named Livy marries into this family and steps onto the uneven terrain, at first trying to take a reasoned look at it. Attempting to adapt to this family almost brings her down, until finally, after much turmoil, she breaks through to a newly developed sense of self. She lives. She learns. She isn’t brought down. But can anyone really repair this emotional landscape?
