Abstract:
President Kennedy worked toward providing equal civil rights for all United States citizens, raising the standard of living for everyone and sought peace instead of war. He strived to encourage nations emerging from pre-World War II colonial domination to choose democracy rather than communism through his humanitarian leadership. He was opposed by behind-the-scenes rulers of the United States who ordered his assassination and then took control of the country. An independent president, elected in 2008, is urgently required to recover our democracy.
