In Brazil's Soulful Medicine, Sandra Nunez has distilled the essence of a dozen syncretic traditions, ranging from French spiritualism and African mythology to Native American traditions and Christian mysticism. The result is a reader-friendly book that is informative as well as inspirational, factual as well as fascinating.

Learning to develop and practice our inner transformation, would clearly bring more of these healing miracles that are so widespread in Brazil. Coming through the spiritual formation we Brazilians have received, perceiving healing through the strength of fraternal love and service, comes naturally. Something that outside of Brazil is often times covered in materialism, ambition, jealousy, or hard feelings, and must instead lead many through the path of illness and inner conflict until the issues are dealt with. I recommend this book to anyone seeking inner peace or spirtual formation ,or help in understanding the broader implications of illness.

This work is an absolute must for those who seek other avenues aside from those prescribed by conventional wisdom; further it is a useful tool for anyone undergoing introspection and who seeks to validate the merits of cognitive neuroscience to address the socio-psychological challenges and stresses modern man confronts through the tenets of researched, therapeutic spirituality.

My ongoing serious illness led me to read this book. Before reading it my life followed a tightly rigid medical regimen as well as a spiritual one. Yet I continued to have an inner void and very little hope. Since I read this book I have been incredibly spiritually broadened, am no longer afraid, and more clearly understand the importance of both conventional and spiritual medicine working together to resolve the root of the health problem . I feel an overwhelming feeling of spiritual guidance, increased hope, and sincere joy that others have definitely seen in me. The book also offers a treasury of prayers to uplift the soul.
