Gaspar Papi and Ana Pons arrived in Florida as indentured servants in 1768. They survived hardships, married, prospered and multiplied. Mickler documents their lives and their descendants throughout the U.S.

Abstract:
This documented history/genealogy of the pioneer Papi/Papy/Pappy family follows Gaspar Papi and Ana Pons, two of Dr. Turnbull’s indentureds, from the Mediterranean to New Smyrna, then to St. Augustine. Gaspar and Ana married and raised a family. Gaspar became a merchant, Indian interpreter and guide, government contractor, and a respected and prosperous citizen. Their children married into the Solana, Reyes, Peso de Burgo, Marin, and Oliveros families. One descendant became Florida’s Attorney General; another, engineer of the Galveston Sea Wall; a third, a California State Representative. Many fought and died for their country. Current descendants live throughout America.
