Abstract:
Beginning his journey with words as a newspaper column contributor, Lowell Fansler has compiled a collection of articles that resurrect his boyhood days during the Depression, when life was complicated, yet simple; and hard work and hard times seemed less so with strong parents and good neighbors. The author writes with both humor and somber consideration as he discusses his later travels, his employment, his contemplation of spiritual matters, his experiences as a soldier, and life with “his lady.” Older readers will remember while younger ones will learn as they join him on a myriad of meanderings.

Meanderings is good for the soul , 12/15/2008
Reviewer: Judy Frazier
I have found Meanderings by Lowell Fansler to be a simple but delightful read. The author shares his boyhood and also recent everyday experiences in a different light encouraging the reader to take note of each breath drawn and to carefully taste each nugget of time given. Since these short stories and accounts of his life are written in segments that can be read in 3 or 4 minutes at a time, Meanderings is a book that can be picked up and put down a few times a day for a simple retreat from life's busy-ness. Meanderings is a soothing remedy after an exhausting day.

  a new appreciation.. , 12/20/2008
Reviewer: Haley Pottorff
My mother loaned me this book, in which Lowell Fansler writes about times long ago, through the Depression and war years, and the good times he spent with family and friends. Being a college student, I never could relate much to stories from the older generations, but the way in which this book is written makes me feel as though his experiences are mine. I have found a new appreciation for his generation, and the stories that they pass down. I realize now that we young people have so much to learn..

The good ol' days!, January 11, 2009 By Harry Ford (New Albany, Indiana) - See all my reviews With a touch of Mark Twain's folk lore, Lowell Fansler, in "Meanderings" vividly describes the way we were in the so called good old days. Anyone growing up in the 30's and 40's will appreciate the personality of this book; Many memories from my life have been revived through this reading. I encourage the younger set to look at home, family, politics and spiritual things through this well written book as well.
