The dietary staple of maize contributes to protein malnutrition and lactose intolerance, which, in childhood, lay the foundation for disease. Micronutrients play a significant role in healing diets.

Abstract:
A HEALTHY YOU: Tame Africa’s Child Malnutrition describes the links that connect weaning diarrhea, lactose intolerance, protein malnutrition and the dietary staple of maize. The author observes that the malnutrition has created an infant feeding dilemma across the African nation, evidenced by the importation of pooled breast milk into the continent to feed very ill infants. To address this problem, she highlights the significance of micronutrients in the diet and offers tips on good weaning and healing diets. Additionally, she emphasizes the importance of understanding modern food technologies, including processed foods and environmental degradation.

Good book for young mothers , 09/10/2009
Reviewer: G. N Muli
What is mentioned in this book has become a reality in my village. Due to poverty and change of our life style in our diet, malnutrition has become a major problem in our society.I've come across several cases of children with problems ranging from diarrhea, lack of appetite, vomitting, rashes and wasted muscles. I encourage our mothers to read this book to get an idea of how to care for their children.
