Boiling with emotion, Beyond Hope? is a soul-stirring book that dissects the fears, the failures and the hopes of a cop fighting for survival in urban America.

Abstract:
A 12-year-old child lying dead in the soft, summer grass; an engine-rattling car chase down a crowded expressway; a tense encounter with a man seconds from committing murder. Author Michael East takes readers along for the ride to witness his transformation from naïve, rookie police officer into distrustful street cop. As he strains to comprehend the violence which threatens to consume him, the author also explores the abuse-filled memories of his own childhood and struggles with the fact that, even as a cop, he still cannot alter the course of destiny. Are these urban streets truly Beyond Hope?

The amazing story of a street cop's never-ending struggle to fight urban crime despite over-whelming obstacles, criticism and negativity. Mr. East and his fellow Law Enforcement Officers in the city of Saginaw, Michigan should be applauded for their dedication in continuing to conquor "The fight."

This book has everything. Michael East becomes an author in this book. It includes his background, Saginaw's history and a new respect for the inner city police force. I only hope that he continues to fight the fight and share his story.
