Abstract:
Serendipitous Sabbatical is a university professor’s memoir of an unconventional sabbatical leave rich in serendipity while he and his family live on a Minnesota farm. Half of his effort goes to university research, the other half to enriching experiences. Among them: the care and feeding of goats and a month-long camping trip to Florida. Emotions run high at the goat’s departure, during post-sabbatical days when the professor and his wife become tolerant landlords, and finally when the farm and other property must be sold. Nature experiences play a dominant role during the course of the sabbatical and beyond.
