I read this book and finally realized what I did NOT learn in High School. I wish that I had this book or one like it when studying the civil war in history class. I would reccommend this book for anyone beginning to study the civil war or anyone wanting to learn more. It gave me more information as to the individual battles and the leaders therein. I rate this book a MUST READ.

William Corser has done an excellent job of researching an amazing number of relatives who fought in the Civil War. He gives an accurate overview of some of the major battles of the war such as Shiloh and Gettysburg and chronicles the role some of those relatives played in those battles. "Profiles of Our Civil War Ancestors" is very well done and should make Mr. Corser a real celebrity at the next family reunion---makes me wish I was related!

My good friend William Corser has been pouring his soul into this work for several years. I myself am not a student of the Civil War, other than watching some movies. I found his research quite impressive. I read the entire book in one sitting, quite an accomplishment for me. Congratulations to him for this, his first effort. Don't be surprised if there is more to come.

The book is filled with authenic data on the pivotal battles, dates, places, and the battle commanders. The author includes references to his ancestors and the battles they fought. It is an amazingly detailed account of the epic battles and those who fought for their cause on both sides of this war.

I really enjoyed the book. Bill starts off by telling you about his ancestors, then he talks about various battles of the war. As he wrote about the battles Bill told a story, instead of just one fact upon another. Story telling is what is missing from a lot of period/ historical pieces. I remember when Bill first started this project, he put his heart into it. Originally I was going to buy a copy to support my friend, and I am glad that I did because I enjoyed it very much.

I have to say that Bills book was one of the most interesting books I have read in a long time. The detail was very interesting and the idea of using his family tree to help put this book together made it even more interesting. The personal touch was great. I am glad to have a copy.
