Abstract:
Isaac Pennybacker is saddened when his wife dies during child birth, leaving him with an infant daughter.
But, when his father turns ill, he leaves his daughter in the hands of a doctor and a nursemaid, only to return to find that the doctor is dead and the nursemaid has disappeared!
Meanwhile, John W. and Miss Catherine, two childhood friends, experience difficulties with love.
When Lady Marks is scorned, she seeks revenge, luring John W. into a poor marriage.
After years of painful separation, John W. is ultimately befriended by a certain Senator’s son, and his life begins to change.
