Abstract:
Born of a rape, Jack endures a painful childhood, the target of teasing and ridicule. Later a teenage romance leaves him with a broken heart. Then he reads of a man who also has known pain and suffering, but who rises above tragedy. Jack is so impressed he follows his idol into the bloody battle of San Juan Hill where both perform heroically. The two forge a friendship based on mutual admiration. Jack marries, while his father-figure goes on to become President. But Jack faces a test when he learns he may have fathered a child during his youthful affair.

  Pennington's Patrimony - Great Read , 04/19/2010
Reviewer: Kathleen Jefferies
James Kruger’s Pennington’s Patrimony is a totally engaging historical novel filled with mystery, intrigue, passion, and compassion throughout. I read it on vacation and could hardly put it down. The character development (and there are plenty of colorful ‘characters’) is excellent and so wonderfully woven into the story that I felt I was experiencing life in that era. I hope the author writes a sequel to this book so I can find out what happens in the futures of those I’ve come to know in Pennington’s Patrimony. I highly recommend Pennington’s Patrimony. I would love to see a movie based on this historic novel – or maybe a TV mini-series.

Wonderfully written to keep one in complete suspense. The author covers so many subjects, harassing/bullying, young love, rape, deceit, revenge, and many more. He is a master at adding new characters and weaving them into the story line. He very skillfully binds fiction and actual history that keeps you in complete suspense. It’s hard to refrain from going to the last pages to read the ending. Highly recommended and very enjoyable.
