Abstract:
Enoch Jones joined the Union Army as a drummer, rose to Captain of his company, and survived a gun shot to the chest while marching with General William Sherman. The terrors of the battlefield and burial of two children and his first wife did not change this cheerful, Christian man who lived a fruitful 98 years and enjoyed loving relationships with his second spouse, Sarah Dobbins, and their four daughters and offspring. Jones’ life evolved from stagecoaches on rutted lanes to Cadillacs on paved highways and spanned the presidencies of Andrew Jackson to Franklin Roosevelt.
