Abstract:
Growing up in a small college town in California during the 1950’s and early 1960’s, the author opens a window into the experience of that time. Through her eyes, the town takes on an appearance beyond the surface layers. Surrounding the normality of daily routine is her feeling of being different, of not fitting in, and a growing sense of the inconsistencies and hypocrisies of this era. However, despite the irony of her life, she finds the sublime in the everyday, and is able to blend past, present and future into a vision of what is truly meaningful.
