Abstract:
Last Man Standing is the story of an old, odd man near death and speaking to the love of his life.

He talks of things he believed, still believes, how some, most, did not work out the way he planned.

He hopes this last explanation makes clear some things he’s kept hidden even from her; the desperation of loving someone more than you love yourself, more than you’re capable of enacting, limited as you are by who you are.

Their love wasn’t perfect, far from it, but it was the best he could give, the best she could give. She saved his life and he’ll be waiting should he see her again.
