My wife and I recently lost her mother due to complications of Alzheimers. We thought that the illness started about a year ago but after reading Trisha Waskey's book, we realized it began many years ago. Her diary of the struggles to help her dad live each day to the fullest was heartbreaking, sad, humorous, frustrating and loving. Her emotions are real, her mission never wavering. Thanks for sharing that with us.

  Don't fight them. , 06/17/2010
Reviewer: Phyllis B.
This book is a great read. Emotional, as it is, Trisha's stories made me realize, why fight with an alzheimer's patient, just go along with them. It really doesn't hurt anyone. Their time on earth is short once they have this disease, no sense in getting everyone frustrated. Let them die happy, and you'll have better memories of the person, as she does.

Inspiring. Poignant. Well written. I'm incorporating Ms Waskey's practical methods of elder care with my own client.

  Heartwarming , 06/20/2010
Reviewer: Joanne V.
I laughed, I cried, I was inspired! The love and devotion pours through the pages. Her insight to the needs of those afflicted with this disease are awe inspiring. As us babyboomers age there is someone in our lives going through similar heartbreak. If we all had the gentle and humorous attitude as the Author. Life would be much easier for those suffering the illness and those caring for them. Excellent Read!

  Loving Life Lessons , 09/12/2010
Reviewer: Vicki Lockwood
Not only was I warmly touched and felt like I was in a knowing friendly conversation with Trisha Wasky while reading Life With Alzheimer’s, but also my awareness of the value of the time I still have with my own mother (who is ageing but does not struggle with dementia) was heightened. Great for keeping as a reference; great for giving as resource.

This book was so helpful to me by making me realize I can do this. I am caring for my mom and she is a real challenge at times, but the author-made me look at it from another angle and now we don't butt heads as often. Thank you for opening my eyes and helping me to be a better caregiver to my mom.
