Abstract:
Isabel Archer, an insurance investigator in San Francisco, investigates her mother’s death at Lockleigh Castle. Isabel suspects murder. Her mother offered to sell one kidney to Isabel’s anglophile uncle, a shady billionaire dying of kidney disease. Her uncle purchased Lockleigh Castle from Lord Warburton. Isabel meets the castle’s snarky residents. Each one seems capable of murder. She questions genial Lord Warburton. He finds the American girl “cheeky,” but attractive. Isabel finds herself wondering WHERE they’ll make love. In a moat? But her violent former lover arrives, her principal suspect is shot to death, and a wolfhound paws the murder weapon.
