Confederate Jefferson Davis was under heavy political pressure to help capture Pemberton and his forty-thousand men army in Vicksburg.

It was on June 6th, that the Confederates attacked the Federals at Milliken’s Bend and marched towards Richmond. The Federals had been watching the Confederate activity. They thought that an attack would be immediate.

The Battle of Milliken's Bend is an excellent book . It delas with the last victory for the Vicksburg campaign at the end of March of 1863. Outbreak In Ungalik isbased on a true story about a diphtheria epidemic that happened in NOme, Alaska in 1925.
