The oral history of a unique unit in the Korean War, where they were known by many names but the enemy simply referred to them as the dreaded Soft Caps.

Abstract:
Volunteers from the Occupation troops assigned to units of General MacArthur’s General Headquarters (GHQ) recall their service in a special commando type unit during the Korean War. The veterans recollect their memories of their pre-war assignments in Tokyo, circumstances of their volunteering for the unit, their rugged training, and their combat actions. The trail leads through the deception raid at Kunsan, the Inchon operation, their activities in the harsh winter weather of North Korea, their anti-guerilla functions in South Korea, and their valiant stand at the three day battle at Changt’o in which they successfully held off a vastly numerically superior enemy force.
