It’s “open season” on celebrity visitors to Mount Hope City, the East Coast’s gambling capital. However, the sheriff’s arrest of a veteran entertainer is not an open and shut case.

Abstract:
When John Michaels received a phone call from a Mount Hope City, NJ lawyer, it meant one thing: someone was in trouble. The only person John knew who lived and worked in this East Coast city, where legalized gambling is sanctioned, was long-time friend and fellow entertainer, Gary Egan.

While money legally changed hands in casinos, high-value merchandise illegally changed hands in hotel rooms. And according to the sheriff, Gary was an alleged accomplice.

Subpoenaed as a character witness, John decides to conduct a clandestine investigation to prove Gary’s innocence. But when Gary’s lawyer is murdered, the danger intensified twofold.

Mr. Albers has written another great book! This one is full of twists and turns - just when you think you have it figured out, you are thrown another curve ball! The story never loses steam, and the excitement continues through the last page. The characters are flawlessly developed, and the story never gets stuck in low gear. If you have read Al's other novels, you will feel that you are with your old friends, Michael and Stella. If this is your first introduction to the main characters, you will become quick friends. I highly recommend this outstanding book!

I enjoyed this book. I kept skipping chapters because it was so intriguing but it brought me back to the current chapter to find out how the situation began. I read this book twice. The author had me literarlly sitting on the edge of my seat with each page I read. I kept thinking I knew who did the crime until the end. It was GREAT reading. Thank you Mr. Albers. Keep up the good work.
