Charles “Buddy” Darby is a prominent social worker for Daytona Beach. He visits Ruby’s apartment to see if he could help her. He doesn’t see her. Suddenly he hears a man’s and Ruby’s voices arguing in the bath room. He hears a gun shot. He leaves the apartment and takes a bus out of town. What town should he stop to hide from the police? Buddy wonders who had been in the bathroom with Ruby? He meets Al Thom on the bus who hates parties. Al’s supposed to attend his Cousin Patricia’s twenty-five anniversary. Buddy goes to the Singer Retreat instead of Thom. He meets Cousin Irene a very pretty woman.
