From the literary to the ludicrous, My Onus is Abated collects some of Zakharin’s most clever and humorous (and usually bizarre) notions. Whether of life, of love, or of literature, from the inane to the profound (and with only fleeting episodes of cannibalism!), real-life scenarios of the world around us are transformed into cartoon-like absurdity. Enigmatic, eclectic, esoteric—if there were a genre known as ‘Cruel Shoes’ (à la Steve Martin), the epiphany of Zakharin’s humor in this collection would usher him in as one of the masters!
