Abstract:
Artist Rue and her petty criminal lover, Elijah Washington, are in the Southwest United States during the tumultuous 1960s. After her arm is shot off during a gunfight with police, they are hunted relentlessly, fleeing through terrible storms and facing unimaginable choices. The infamous couple has twins, a boy and a girl, who are given away at birth. We meet the son in the late 1980s as a window washer in Los Angeles. The daughter brings us into this century, writing a book about her Mother revealing not only the details of a fascinating life but profound philosophies as well.
