Abstract:
Fans of both William P. Robertson’s horror writing and historical fiction will find something to treasure in the author’s new collection of character-driven stories. The book begins with five tales of twisted love that culminate in femme fatale, Lauren Watson’s, grisly demise. The eruption of Mount Vesuvius creates the backdrop for another narrative about a sadistic Roman general. Viking, Dane Wulfdin, also returns to brave new dangers among the Skraelings. Other yarns detail a scary encounter with Bigfoot and the grimmer aspects of a Mayan game. Robertson’s visit to the haunted Hinsdale House smacks of Nathaniel Hawthorne.
