Abstract:
Jesse’s River Crossing is the story of Jesse Crowell, who, as a three-year old orphan, is brought to live with relatives near the Holston River in Southwest Virginia. His life, spanning the era from the Civil War until the outbreak of World War II, is filled with personal, romantic, and spiritual conflicts. Along the way, he is befriended by former slave Worsh Banks, minister Lloyd Wheeler, storekeeper Fox Phillips, and mountain man Caleb Hermann. Each of them counsels Jesse in his struggles, but it is his young granddaughter who helps him to win his greatest battle.

Well, Jim Counts has done it once again. The characters in this book are believable and endearing, with a story that grabs and holds your attention throughout. It feels as if the characters are people I know, and friends that have been in my life; plus, the area in the book reminds me of places from my childhood, and I can just see the school, store and many of the homes in my mind just like those from my younger days. All of Jim's books are written with conviction and faith in God, so they help to guide the reader in decisions in their own life as well. I have had the privilege to read each book just as soon as they came out, and all of them are autographed copies. I have been blessed in my life to know Jim as an instructor, and now as a friend and accomplished writer. It is indeed a blessing to read these books, and the lessons within are profound - yet simple enough for anyone to understand. In my opinion, the lessons in each of these books will stay with you a long time, so I truly believe you would be blessed to read each one that Jim has written.
