Abstract:
American Nomad is a collection of stories about trips taken that are more than a thousand miles in length one way.
It unfolds from a horrible accident to a time when the author’s most available mode of travel was hitch-hiking. Hitch-hiking was a not uncommon way of getting around in the late Sixties. You took up extra space in the vehicles of other travelors and you got to go to places you would not otherwise visit.
