Abstract:
In The Wheel of Religion the author grants the validity of our emotional religious instincts, but then goes on to separate them from our traditional theological trappings. Having made this distinction, to his satisfaction at least, he then suggests an alternative religion based on the premise that we are a species, just like every other, forced to submit to nature’s rules rather than those we have conveniently crafted for ourselves. According to the author, those rules include a commitment to evolution which, in turn, leads to the realization that we must use nature’s methods (known to us as the scientific method) to determine how that evolution should proceed in every aspect of our lives.
