For what reason would an unknown man and a cow be slain in the high mountains of Utah’s Cache National Forest. It just doesn’t make sense.
This is the dilemma facing Cache County Sheriff Sherman McAlister, who has no authority to investigate a crime on government land. Some senior high school students, who were involved from the beginning, are recruited to help with the inquiry. This takes place over a period of several seasons, during which no clues come to light.
But who is the tall man on a horse, and how is he involved?
