Abstract:
The Story of Water Treatment and the Cape Coral Experience answers these questions. Where does your drinking water come from? What did ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans have to do with your drinking water? Julius Caesar, known for being the first Roman dictator and falling in love with Cleopatra, was responsible for what historical action? Did you know that Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, was an imprisoned criminal? He served twenty years, do you know why? Who is Sidney Loeb? Where is Cape Coral? What does it have to do with the story of water?

This book takes the reader on a journey from the beginning of water treatment to a modern urban water treatment system located in Cape Coral, Florida. Although appealing to Floridians, the scope of the book is much broader. Mr. Kopko brings a wealth of knowledge to a subject that is capturing the attention of communities around the world making his book a worthy addition to your bookshelf.

The biographies of historical characters that played a role in the development of water treatment and a helpful glossary made it easy to absorb even technical data. Appreciated the many detailed drawings, photos and illustrations which made for an interesting read!

Eye Opener to a topic I took for granted , 01/07/2018

I really enjoyed reading this book. I had no idea Cape Coral was a hub for modern urban water treatment. Mr. Kopko’s publication provides a vast wealth of knowledge to this topic, which, until I read it, took the entire process of water treatment for granted. It’s a great reference tool that even my high-school will end up using for a report! This book was easy to read, sparked my interest and I appreciated its conciseness of the book, as well as the drawings, photos, illustrations and historical references.
