Life with the Father of Bluegrass , 07/25/2017
Reviewer: Tom Isenhour
Since Bill Monroe died in 1996, there has not been but a handful of books about his life. Some by scholars, some by former Blue Grass Boys, but only one by someone who actually lived with Monroe on his Tennessee Farm. And now Javonda Smith has decided to do a follow up "sequel" to her first book on Monroe. This one covers details into the life of Monroe and a lot about his famous mandolin, the 1923 Gibson F5. It's loaded with many never seen photos of Monroe on and off stage. She has also added memories about other Nashville artists she became friends with while working for Bill Monroe. If you love all things Monroe, you got to have it.
