Biography:

Carl Stanley Birk has been a Computer Teacher and Librarian in the Houston (Texas) Independent School District (HISD) for over twenty years. Born on August 16, 1958 in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, Carl graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater with a degree in History and Library Science. His recognitions include being the instructor of four consecutive Apple Computer Club National Programming Champions and two Enron Teacher Excellence Awards. Carl is the only person to win the HISD Teacher of the Year (1990) and HISD Librarian of the Year (2001). Carl enjoys baseball, autograph collecting, reading and spending time with the love of his life, his daughter Kirby.
