Diane Popek-Jones came to the United States when she was eleven years old, was educated in New York City, married a Virginian and spent the rest of her life in a rural community in Central Virginia. She is a free-lance writer and amateur painter. She collaborated on two previous books of local history, Tracks Along the Staunton and Atoms for Peace.
