World traveler, writer, entrepreneur and amateur artist; Andrew Farrara was born in Reading, Pennsylvania in 1950. Since 1967 he has traveled to over 100 countries and all Seven Continents, conducting two around-the-world backpacking expeditions; one of 8 weeks in 1983 and 220 days in 1987-88… the latter being the focus of this book.

Farrara operates an independent insurance business in Pennsylvania and spends his free time writing, traveling, painting and learning. Farrara holds a BA and MA in History from Kutztown University. Formerly Superintendent of Recreation, he has taught in the public school system and served briefly on the local School Board.
