Darcy Mitchem ran from Mount St. Helens as a child, and has been telling stories with Nature as a prominent character ever since. She has worked as a professional naturalist at the volcano, a fire lookout with the park service, and a research assistant in the arctic. She’s now a full time mother and a part-time writer. Darcy lives in the Sedro-Woolley, Washington, with her husband and two children. Together they spend their free time hiking the rugged and beautiful Cascade Mountains.
