Biography:

Benedikt Sarnov is a Moscow literary critic, scholar, and writer old enough to have vivid memories of the Stalin period. His entire career in the Soviet period involved a struggle between what he wanted to publish and what would pass the censor’s vigilant eye. Nevertheless he published eighteen books and hundreds of articles and reviews and continues to be active in the post-Soviet period, one of his most recent books being “Our Soviet Newspeak: A Short Encyclopedia of Real Socialism.”
