James Li Pook Than, penname Fulan, was born in Mauritius. He went to Queen’s University, Belfast where he obtained his B.A. and Dip.Ed. As a teacher he traveled extensively and even taught in the Arctic for some time. He published “Ballad under the stars” in 1957 and “Poems and Poêmes” in 1981. He also contributed to numerous poetry publications.
