Karen Jesse Martin has a PhD in nursing with a background in occupational safety and health, caring for workers in manufacturing and service companies. Although Martin has published extensively in professional journals, she hadn’t considered writing fiction until nurse friends encouraged her to write about the curious happenings inside the walls of industry. Workers tell nurses everything! A fatal accident in a canning factory gave rise to the idea for a mystery series. In addition to her passion for fiction writing, Martin currently teaches nursing in the Southeast, where she lives with her cat, Mittens.
