A longtime teacher of history with advanced degrees in History and the History of Science, the author is also a sailor who has always been interested in the sea. She, her husband and four sons sailed along the California coast and the Pacific Ocean for years. A Native Californian, she frequently sets her fiction on the coast or in the islands off California. She has published four novels and two non-fiction histories. She lives with her husband in Santa Cruz and Kauai.
