With Louisa Mae Alcott as her idol, Doris Maye Heffner began writing stories as a child in Massachusetts. The gift of a typewriter when she was l5 made writing as prominent as her interest in dance and theatre arts.

Over the years she has appeared in community theatre, summer stock companies, television, films and the U.S.O. as well as operating her own dance studio.

When Doris and husband Hank moved to the Maryland countryside to raise their son, writing once again became a part of her life.
